PFW: Francesco Smalto

Francesco Smalto... Where do we even begin?!

Youn Chong Bak, artistic director of the house Smalto, really blew us away with his presentation of the new SS14 collection. We arrived at a marvelous building on the Champs-Élysées and once we managed to get passed the street style photographers, we entered the breathtaking world of Smalto.

Celebrating the elegance in menswear, we wandered through 5 rooms that represented the office, a cocktail party, the beach,... The collection was influenced by the fresh optimism of the 70s. Sartorial pieces, like the iconic double breasted suit jackets and tuxedos, are a must. But the designer also provided casual wear, like bomber jackets, a summer suit or a cotton shirt with white trousers. Also, pay attention to the fine detailing and amazing shoes!

Personally, we adore this brand! Every single look is a piece of art and totally wearable. You don't even have to use your imagination anymore: Smalto already pictured you, sipping cocktails with your friends at a pool somewhere near Saint-Tropez... Give us FS any day ;-)

PFW: Atelier Gustavolins

Brazilian designer Gustavo Lins opted for a casual fashion show. The models, who were actually "amateurs" from the streets, walked up and down the stairs of Palais Brongniart in his new Spring-Summer 2014 collection. There was no actual runway and just a small audience of fashion professionals, which made the presentation quite intimate. The designer stated that he wanted to emphasize the democratic side of fashion.

The collection consisted of a mix of casual wear and sartorial pieces: for example oversized harem trousers combined with a silk shirt and a linen blazer with an upturned collar. The use of colour, patterns and leather was really subtle and beautifully done. Small details, like the neckerchiefs, oversized belts and V-necks created by wrap detailing, made the looks flawless.

Enjoy our own
pictures below and relive the moment with us ;-)

PFW: Maison F presentation

Still in Paris, we received an invitation for the Maison F party.
To be completely honest with you guys, we didn't have a clue about this brand.
It's a French accessory brand founded in 2011 and all the items are handmade in an atelier in Paris. At the time you place an order online, the product will immediately go into production! We are so thrilled to have found out about this brand, because this is really something unique to share with you!

The brand is all about ties and bow ties. The collection also carries some amazing tie pins and pocket squares. Maison F even has some accessories for the little ones. Tiny bow ties are so adorable, instant fashion kid ;-). We had the opportunity to meet the designer François-Regis Laporte. He explained us everything about the SS14 collection

There are multiple designs and every design has its own name. For example, one is called "The Mermaid". When you have a close look at our pictures, you can see that the names are quite fitting for the design of the different bow ties. You can tell that the designer has an overwhelming know-how. Every piece is of top quality and made to perfection. Prices go from 70 to 130 Euros.

The presentation was beautiful and he presented his bow ties on original Stockman forms, which was pretty impressive too.

Go have a look and pick the one that suits you!

PFW: Henrik Vibskov

Henrik Vibskov, the only Scandinavian designer in the official show schedule of the Paris men's Fashion Week, chose to work with a tableau vivant instead of a runway show. A great choice if you'd ask us, because the atmosphere was uncanny!

Few people were allowed in the space at the same time. This personal connection with the models and the clothes, together with the music, created a kind of special ambience that we liked a lot. The presentation is an art installation which has become typical for this brand: the presentation has become as important as the collection itself. This time, the concept was called “The Bathtub Observer”.

They all had the same shoes on and the same headpiece, which were both very unique. The clothes were very colourful with a lot of unique, eye-popping prints and patterns. The dots and distorted moiré prints from previous collections were kept for this one. The cubistic motives were new and herringbone patterns were reinvented! Colours include white, light beige, black, shades of blue, mustard yellow, camel, light green and red.

The shoes looked so uncomfortable and some models looked really tired. We asked someone of the staff for how long they had to stand like this. The presentation took 1 hour, but she told us that they could rest and drink water whenever they wanted.

The model in the last picture, a very popular model this season (we saw him at many different shows), looks really epic in the outfit he had on!
